Emilia-Romagna is a region of Italy that includes Bologna and is less crowded than many Italian areas. This region also contains Parma which is where Parmesan cheese comes from. Rimini is at the south-east corner of the Provence and is a beautiful sea town on the Adriatic Sea. Travel and Leisure has a four-day trip out of Bologna to Ferrara, Rimini and Ravenna. I would also include a trip to Parma to taste fresh parmesan cheese.
Bologna has many art pieces worth seeing and tons of shopping. Restaurants are very good as well. Ferrara is half medieval, half Renaissance. The city itself is the treasure here. Rimini is a busy resort town in the summer. Europeans come here to vacation on its beautiful beaches. It is a city with great restaurants and cafes. Enjoy a day at the beach or stroll the promenade and its cafes. Ravenna is an ancient Roman port town called Cassis.
Don’t miss the many small towns along the way. Each is an adventure for food, wine and meeting real Italians. You can get to this area easily from Milan or Florence. Enjoy!
