Marina di Casal Velino Pictorial

Yesterday we were up in the mountain town of Casal Velino and today we are down on the beaches of Marina di Casal Velino. This is a resort town that is hoping all summer long. Palm trees and beaches with white sand are its theme. The population is about 5,000 but in the summer the hotels, rental homes and B&Bs are full with tourists. It is in the Province of Salerno, Campania. It is also in The Client National Park.

There are free beaches that you can go with your own towel or chair and umbrella. There are also clubs that you pay and get a chase, umbrella and table. They usually provide good food, drinks, music and a great beach. You can eat at these clubs or go to markets or restaurants nearby and get a Panini (sandwich) for lunch or pizza.

There are highways that get you close by or you can take a train from Salerno. This is a resort for Italians (mostly from Naples or Salerno) and other Europeans (mostly Germans). The small town, good restaurants and bars and great beaches are a draw. These beaches win the coveted Blue Flag Beach award each year for best beaches in the world. We were here last in the beginning of June so the beaches were not yet crowded.

The beach is a wonderful attraction in any country. In Italy it is very romantic and memorable. This is a place to stay and be Italian. From here you can visit many small towns, other beaches and some large cities. Enjoy!
